IDEA/CONCEPT
This piece explores the timeless connection between individuals, whether as sisters, friends, or reflections of the self. The two figures, their gazes entwined yet distinct, symbolize unity, duality, and the shifting nature of identity. The soft, muted expressions contrast against the raw, vibrant graffiti background, emphasizing the tension between the classical and the contemporary, between the past that lingers and the future that emerges.
EXECUTION & PROCESS
The figures were rendered with delicate precision, ensuring their features maintained the elegance and serenity of ancient sculptures. The soft washes of blue, purple, and pink hues were carefully layered to create depth and dimension, giving the illusion of light reflecting off marble. The surrounding graffiti elements—bold splashes of orange, neon accents, and paint drips—were integrated to blend the figures into the urban landscape, reinforcing the idea of history and modernity coexisting. Subtle texture work, including cracks and weathering effects, adds a sense of time’s passage, making the figures feel both eternal and ever-changing.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
Some bonds are unspoken, some connections transcend time. This piece is about the silent understanding between two souls, an echo of the past meeting the present, a reminder that even in change, some things remain.
