IDEA/CONCEPT
This piece explores the idea of duality—past and present, strength and grace, history and reinvention. The central figure, inspired by classical Greco-Roman sculpture, stands as a symbol of wisdom and resilience, while her shadowed counterpart in the background represents the echoes of time, memory, and the layers of history that shape identity. The surrounding graffiti elements inject a modern, urban energy, reinforcing the ongoing dialogue between antiquity and contemporary street culture.
EXECUTION & PROCESS
The artwork was constructed through a combination of fine detail work and expressive, raw street art techniques. The statues were carefully rendered to capture the texture of ancient marble, with light and shadow emphasizing their depth and presence. Bright neon blues, magentas, and yellows were introduced to break the monotony of grayscale, bringing the figures into a modern context. Graffiti overlays, paint drips, and abstract textures were added to create a sense of motion and transformation, blending the refined classical aesthetic with the rawness of urban art.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
History leaves its mark, but so do we. This piece reflects how identities, both personal and cultural, are constantly evolving—layered with the past but shaped by the present. The cracks in time tell stories, and I wanted this work to be a conversation between old and new.
